Staffordshire Couple to Walk 50 Miles in Memory of Their Children to Raise Awareness and Funds for Bereavement Support Football Team
Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity is proud to support an inspiring fundraising initiative led by Sean Coleman and his family, who will be embarking on a 50-mile walk from their home in Staffordshire to the Liverpool Women’s Hospital. The walk, taking place on the weekend of 7th and 8th September, is in memory of their beloved children, Harper Raine and Baby Rory.
Harper Raine was born prematurely at 24 weeks on 20th November 2015 and spent four weeks in neonatal care at Liverpool Women’s Hospital before sadly passing away. Baby Rory was born sleeping, further deepening the family’s grief. Throughout these difficult times, the Honeysuckle Bereavement team at Liverpool Women’s Hospital provided Sean and his family with invaluable support, helping them navigate their bereavement journey.
Now, the Colemans are determined to give back by raising funds and awareness for Honeysuckle FC, a unique football team founded in November 2022 by Liverpool Women’s Hospital and the LFC Foundation. Honeysuckle FC is a support network for men who have experienced the devastating loss of a baby during pregnancy, neonatal care, stillbirth, or medical termination. The team, which now has around 40 members, offers a safe space where bereaved fathers can come together, share their experiences, and find comfort in community through the sport of football.
Sean Coleman commented on the upcoming walk: "Since the loss of both our babies, the Honeysuckle team has been a constant source of support. We want to give something back by helping raise funds and awareness for Honeysuckle FC, a vital support for men who have suffered unimaginable losses."
The walk is set to conclude at Liverpool Women’s Hospital at approximately 4:00 PM on Sunday, 8th September. The Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity is encouraging the community to support Sean’s journey and contribute to this important cause.
