Looking forward to our Dedicated To Excellence Awards

Last week I took a tour around the hospital with our Infection Prevention and Control Team. The team do a fantastic job of making sure that staff and facilities within the hospital are fully compliant with all of the relevant and necessary guidelines relating to infection and hygiene. The team play a key role in supporting our commitment of achieving the highest standards of hygiene across the Trust.

Friday saw our monthly Board of Directors meeting, and once again we took the opportunity to highlight the efforts of some of our staff. This month we recognised:

  • Donna Pickering (HCA on the Hewitt Fertility Centre) who in December - went the extra mile for one of our patients by sifting through waste bins in search of her missing wedding and engagement rings – and found them!
  • Kim Parkman (Gardner), Elaine Carden (Revalidation Support Manager/PA to Jonathan Herod) and Lee Jones (Procurement Officer) who have photographed and catalogued most of the Trust’s artwork and brought almost all of the works in storage, out of storage and onto walls.
  • Andrew Drakeley, Consultant Gynaecologist who regularly goes the extra mile for our patients, not least of which is the out of hours care he regularly provides to women who need to go to theatre.

Congratulations to each and every one of the above!

Another occasion when we recognise the amazing things that go on across the Trust is at our annual awards evening. This year we have changed the name of this from the Focussing On Excellence Awards to the 'Dedicated to Excellence Awards', in line with our strapline of 'Dedicated To You'. The awards night, which will take place in April this year, is always a proud moment for me as Chief Executive as it gives myself and the Board of Directors a chance to celebrate the amazing achievements of our staff and volunteers. We'll be giving our patients the opportunity to nominate those members of staff who have provided excellent care during the past 12 months very soon, so keep an eye out for that!

Have a great week!
