Thank you for an amazing 2013

Everyday our staffs receive messages and cards of thanks and it is not unusual for a patient or their family to write personally to me expressing their thanks for their care or to make positive comments on the hospital environment and its cleanliness.  I have received some feedback from a neighbour last week. Her sister had been diagnosed with cancer and was in our hospital for major surgery.  The family were obviously concerned and worried and seeing this at close hand reminds you of how important it is to ensure that patients feel safe and cared for when in our care.  The family were very pleased with the care provided to their loved one by our staff.

Thank you to all patients who took part in our #StaffSanta campaign which we ran on our Twitter and Facebook. By voting for members of staff who they felt deserved to be given a gift for the exceptional care they had provided, patients were able to help us to make sure our staff knew how much they were appreciated.  Thank you also to the local businesses and companies who donated the gifts. You can see the photos on our Facebook page.

I paid a visit to our Midwifery staff from our Maple Team based in Kirkby. They are some of the real stars of Liverpool Women's and take such pride in what they do. They also recently featured in a fantastic story which was picked up by both local and national press.  I also visited our staff based at the Aintree Centre for Women's Health, again always a pleasure to spend some time with these teams.

A big thank you to our catering staff who have been busy preparing Christmas Dinner for all of our staff over the past week or so.  Thank you it was delicious.

Our Chairman has been out and about in his Santa costume delivering chocolates and tea and coffee to our staff in wards and departments.  Again, the pictures from this can be seen on our Facebook page.

Finally it has been a busy and at times challenging year but once again we have had so many things to be proud of.  We have put together a short video picking out some of the highlights from our year and you can view this here.  A big thank you to all of our staff and volunteers who have worked so hard and a massive thank you to the many staff who will be working over the festive period.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and the very best wishes for 2014!
